Field Application Scientist

Symbiotica is partnering with a growing life sciences instrumentation company as they expand their Field Application Scientist team to support their growing customer base.

This role sits at the intersection of biophysics, biomolecular interactions and customer-facing science

Responsibilities:

  • Run customer demonstrations and feasibility studies from a San Francisco applications lab

  • ???????Work with scientists to understand assay goals, experimental design and success criteria

  • ???????Support applications involving biomolecular interactions, binding assays and biophysical characterization

  • Present technical results and demo findings clearly to customers

  • Support pre-sales scientific discussions alongside the commercial team

  • Lead installations, training, troubleshooting and post-sale applications support

  • Feed customer insight back into the scientific and product teams

  • Support a territory covering Southern California and the Southwest

Most demonstrations are conducted from the Bay Area lab, either with customers onsite or through submitted samples. Travel is typically 2 overnights a month, with peak periods spanning 1-2 weeks. 

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Molecular Biology, Protein Science or a related field

  • Around 1–2+ years of FAS or comparable customer-facing applications experience

  • Experience with binding assays, biomolecular interaction analysis or biophysical characterization

  • SPR, BLI or related protein characterization experience is highly relevant

  • Strong scientific communication and customer-facing confidence

  • Comfortable working independently and in a fast-moving team

  • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area + Willing to travel
