About the Opportunity

We’re partnering with a fast-growing analytical instrumentation company headquartered in Boston that is expanding its applications function to strengthen customer success and product adoption. This is a unique opportunity to join early, take ownership of applications strategy, and directly shape how customers engage with a next-generation analytical platform.

The company is at a flexible stage of growth where this position can lean more lab-based or expand into field applications/travel — depending on your preference and career trajectory.

What You’ll Do

As an Applications Scientist, you will:
Develop, validate, and refine analytical methods to support product development and customer adoption.

  • Apply expertise in solid phase extraction (SPE), sample preparation, and chromatography (GC, LC) to build workflows that extend instrument capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and transfer workflows in collaboration with both internal R&D teams and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to demonstrate product capabilities and provide scientific support throughout the customer lifecycle.
  • Deliver technical reports, training, and presentations that translate complex data into clear insights for customers.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory practices, including SOP development, preventive maintenance, and instrument calibration.

What We’re Looking For

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related field — or equivalent industry experience.
  • Industry track record applying wet chemistry and sample prep techniques in product development, applications, or customer-facing contexts.
  • Hands-on experience with SPE and chromatography (GC, LC) ; additional familiarity with cleanup workflows and instrument troubleshooting is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to move beyond SOP execution — building and refining methods that customers can adopt.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across technical and commercial teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience engaging both internal teams and external clients.

Why Join

  • Opportunity to play a key role in defining the applications strategy for a company at an exciting growth stage.
  • Flexibility to shape the role toward lab-based innovation or field-facing applications depending on your interests.
  • Be part of a collaborative team where your expertise directly impacts product adoption, customer success, and company growth .
