As a Software Applications Specialist , you'll operate at the intersection of science, technology, and client engagement. You’ll support the sales process with technical expertise, translate scientific needs into software requirements, and help ensure client projects are successfully scoped, specified, and delivered. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives on solving complex problems and communicating sophisticated solutions with clarity and confidence.
What You’ll Do
- Pre-Sales Technical Support

Partner with Sales Managers to analyze customer workflows and design tailored software integration solutions.

Present and demonstrate product capabilities to de-risk client decisions and build technical confidence.

Translate customer requirements into solution designs, including workflow modeling and scripting specifications (e.g., C#, Python, RESTful APIs).
- Solution Scoping & Documentation

Create high-quality technical documentation, specifications, and Statements of Work (SOWs) for internal and external use.

Develop prototype scripts or configurations to illustrate intended functionality in automation and integration contexts.

Communicate assumptions, define gaps, and collaborate with stakeholders to refine the solution as details evolve.
- Project Handoff & Implementation Support

Work closely with Product and Project Managers to ensure seamless transitions from sales to deployment.

Occasionally support implementation or testing phases directly, helping customers validate functionality and achieve success.
- Cross-Team Collaboration

Engage with colleagues from product, engineering, and commercial teams to support continuous improvement.

Keep current on trends in lab orchestration, LIMS, scientific informatics, and software integration strategies.
What You Bring
- Technical Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a Scientific, Engineering, or Computer Science discipline.

5+ years of industry experience in software integration, lab automation, or technical consulting—ideally within biotechnology, drug discovery, or R&D labs.

Strong experience in scripting, configuring, or integrating scientific software—particularly in high-throughput or custom lab workflows.

Excellent communication skills across written documentation, live presentations, and cross-functional collaboration.

Ability to shift between technical detail and high-level vision depending on audience and stage of engagement.

Comfort in front of clients, including proposal walkthroughs, solution demonstrations, and technical Q&A.
- Software & Integration Skills

Familiarity with scripting languages (C#, Python), RESTful APIs, and software integration methods (e.g., database connections, system calls).

Experience in lab informatics tools, LIMS, or scheduling systems a plus.

Travel Requirements
